Ontario invited new candidates in the Skilled Trades Stream
On December 11, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 667 Invitations to Apply for the candidates in the Skilled Trades Stream. All invitees have their profiles created in the Express Entry system between December 11, 2018, to December 11, 2019. The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 410-479. OINP invited 1,399 candidates in the Skilled Trades Stream in 2019. So far, Ontario issued 9,972 ITAs under all streams in 2019.
Ontario invited new candidates in the Entrepreneur Stream
On December 2, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) invited 16 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination under the Entrepreneur Stream. The minimum score for this round was 118. This is nine points less than in the previous round. In total, Ontario invited 66 candidates under this stream in 2019. In the last year, OINP invited 139 entrepreneurs and since the opening of the stream in 2016, Ontario had issued 257 invitations.
Ontario closed the intake for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
On September 23, 2019, the Immigration authorities of Ontario announced the closure of intake for the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream in the framework of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The province reopened this stream on August 27, 2019. According to the government, there was a significant increase in applications in 2019 and due to the limited quota allocated by the Federal government, OINP has met its application target for this stream for the year. OINP will reopen the intake of applications for Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream in 2020.
Ontario invited new candidates in the Entrepreneur Stream
On September 20, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 15 Invitations to Apply to the eligible candidates under the Entrepreneur Stream. The minimum score for this round was 127. This is 15 points higher than in the previous round, which was held on April 5, when OINP invited 22 entrepreneurs. The OINP noted that those whose Expressions of Interest were scored by September 12, 2019, were eligible for this draw. In total, Ontario invited 50 candidates under this stream in 2019. In the last year, OINP invited 139 entrepreneurs and since the opening of the stream in 2016, Ontario had issued 241 invitations.
Ontario opened the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
On August 27, 2019, the Government of Ontario announced the opening of the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Applicants may apply now using the OINP e-Filing Portal. On April 26, 2019, Ontario paused the intake to the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream and Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream. The International Student Stream will remain paused to intake. In 2018, OINP issued 934 invitations in the Foreign Worker Stream. In total, Ontario invited 2,223 candidates in the Employer Job Offer category in 2018.
Ontario invited 997 candidates in the Human Capital Priorities Stream
On August 15, 2019, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 997 targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates under the Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream. In this round all invited candidates have work experience in 10 priority occupations such as NOC 0114 Other administrative services managers, NOC 0601 Corporate sales managers, NOC 1122 Professional occupations in business management consulting, NOC 0124 Advertising, marketing and public relations managers, NOC 0621 Retail and wholesale trade managers, NOC 1111 Financial auditors and accountants, NOC 3012 Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses, NOC 0111 Financial managers, NOC 1114 Other financial officers, and NOC 0651 Managers in customer and personal services, n.e.c. The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 439-465. In total, Ontario invited 9,274 candidates under all streams of the OINP.
Ontario invited 1,773 candidates in the OINP tech draw
On August 1, 2019, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 1,773 targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates under the Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream. This is the second OINP tech draw. In this round, all invited candidates have work experience in six technical occupations: NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers, NOC 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers, NOC 2147 Computer engineers, NOC 2175 Web designers and developers, NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators, and NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers. The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 435-458. In total, this year, Ontario has already issued 8,277 NOIs under all streams of the OINP.
Ontario invited 1,623 candidates through OINP tech draw
On July 12, 2019, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued 1,623 targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates in Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities. In this round, all invited candidates have work experience in six technical occupations: NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers, NOC 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers, NOC 2147 Computer engineers, NOC 2175 Web designers and developers, NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators, and NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers. The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 439-459. In total, since the beginning of the year, Ontario has already invited 6,504 candidates through various streams of the OINP.
The Second Human Capital Priorities Stream draw via OINP in 2019
On May 31, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 1072 Notifications of Interest (NOI) for candidates in Ontario’s Express Entry Human Capital Priorities. In this round were selected candidates who registered their Express Entry profile between May 31, 2018, and May 31, 2019. The CRS score range of the invited candidates was 439-469. This round was targeted on candidates is the following occupations: NOC 0114 Other administrative services managers, NOC 0601 Corporate sales managers, NOC 1122 Professional occupations in business management consulting, NOC 0124 Advertising, marketing and public relations managers, NOC 0621 Retail and wholesale trade managers, NOC 1111 Financial auditors and accountants, NOC 3012 Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses, NOC 0111 Financial managers, NOC 1114 Other financial officers, and NOC 0651 Managers in customer and personal services, n.e.c. In total, since the beginning of the year, Ontario has already invited 4881 candidates through various program streams.
Ontario invited 360 French-speaking candidates via OINP
On May 22, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) held the new round of invitations of the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW) candidates. After three months of pause, Ontario invited 360 candidates in the new draw. This was the sixth round of invitations in this stream since the beginning of the year. In 2019 Ontario invited 549 candidates in the FSSW. In 2018, Ontario welcomed 1633 French-speaking immigrants. In total, 3,809 candidates were invited via all streams of the OINP in 2019.
667 applicants registered in the OINP’s Masters Graduate Stream
On April 30, 2019, Ontario opened registration of the applications to the Masters Graduate Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The opening was limited to 667 registrations. Those who successfully registered for the Masters Graduate Stream have received a confirmation number from the OINP e-Filing Portal. OINP allocated 1,000 spots for this stream in 2019. On March 5, 2019, registration was opened, but due to technical problems, the acceptance of applications was closed. However, 333 candidates still managed to register with the program. The OINP has reached its intake for the stream this year.
OINP paused receiving applications in the Employer Job Offer streams
On April 26, 2019, the government of Ontario made a notice that Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is pausing intake to the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream and Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream. Starting from the date of the announcement, no new applications can be submitted. Ontario notified that these streams have seen a significant increase in applications in 2019, making it necessary to pause intake to the streams due to Ontario’s limited nomination allocation from the Federal government. Therefore, the In-demand Skills stream remains the only open stream in the Employer Job Offer category. In 2018, OINP issued 1,254 invitations in the International Student Stream, 934 invitations in the Foreign Worker Stream, and 35 invitations in the In-Demand Skills Stream. In total, Ontario invited 2,223 candidates in the Employer Job Offer category in 2018.
Ontario invited new candidates in the Entrepreneur Stream
On April 5, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 22 Invitations to Apply to the eligible candidates under the Entrepreneur Stream. The minimum score for this round was 112. This is 3 points lower than in the previous round of this year which was held on January 17 when OINP invited 13 entrepreneurs. In total, Ontario invited 35 candidates under this stream in 2019. In the last year, OINP invited 139 entrepreneurs and since the opening of the stream in 2016, Ontario had issued 226 invitations.
Ontario invited new candidates in the Skilled Trades Stream
On March 21, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 361 Invitations to Apply for the candidates eligible for the Skilled Trades Stream. All invitees have their profiles created in the Express Entry system between March 21, 2018, to March 21, 2019. As of today, Ontario invited 732 candidates in the Skilled Trades Stream since the beginning of the year. The total number of invitations issued by the OINP in 2019 has reached 2760 candidates.
333 international graduates registered in the Masters Graduate Stream of the OINP
On March 19, 2019, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) released an update about the Masters Graduate Stream. On March 5, 2019, it was closed before achieving its target of 1,000 registrants due to technical issues. Nevertheless, 333 applicants successfully registered while the stream was open. The OINP continues to investigate the cause of the technical issues experienced during the program opening. The OINP is working to open the stream as soon as possible, once the technical issue is resolved. This means that another 667 candidates might have a chance to register their profile when the stream will reopen.
Ontario’s 2019 Nomination Allocation
On March 15, 2019, the Ontario government announced its 2019 nomination allocation from the federal government that the province can issue to immigrants through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The federal government has allocated 6,650 spots to Ontario, as well as an additional 250 nominations specifically for temporary foreign workers in intermediate skilled occupations – National Occupation Classification (NOC) Skill Level C). Thus, in total, Ontario received 6,900 nominations for 2019. This is less than the province requested (7600), but more than last year’s quota – 6,600 and more than the final number of nominations in 2018. In 2018, 13,571 new immigrants immigrated through the Ontario program.
The Masters Graduate Stream of the OINP opens on Mar 5, 2019
On March 4, 2019, the Government of Ontario announced that the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) will open the Masters Graduate Stream at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. The opening will be limited to 1,000 registrations in the e-Filing Portal. To apply for the program, one must access the OINP e-Filing Portal directly from the Masters Graduate Stream page on the OINP website by clicking on the button ‘Submit an application.’ In 2018, the program was opened only twice – on January 29, and April 4. Both times the registration was closed in an hour after the opening. In total, Ontario invited 1,215 Master graduates through this program in 2018, therefore this might be the only opening of the stream this year.
Ontario processed 13,571 new immigrants via OINP in 2018
On February 22, Ontario released the final immigration statistics for 2018. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) nominated 6850 candidates in all streams. In total, Ontario processed 13,571 new immigrants in 2018, including the family members of the provincial nominees. Those nominees came from 147 countries with applicants from India and China received the highest number of nominations.
Ontario invited new French-speaking candidates
On February 7, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) held the new round of invitations of the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW). This was the fifth round of invitations in this stream since the beginning of the year. In this round, OINP issued 61 Invitations to Apply for Francophone applicants. In total, in 2019 Ontario invited 189 candidates in the FSSW. In 2018, Ontario welcomed 1633 French-speaking immigrants.
Ontario invited new Francophone candidates in the OINP
On February 1, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) held the fourth round of invitations of the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW) since the beginning of the year. This round, OINP issued 29 Invitations to Apply for Francophone applicants in. In total, in 2019 Ontario invited 128 candidates in the FSSW. In 2018, Ontario welcomed 1633 French-speaking immigrants.
Ontario mistakenly issued Notifications of Interest to wrong candidates
On January 30, 2019, Ontario released a statement that many Notifications of Interest under Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream issued on January 24, were issued in error to candidates who do not meet the stream criteria. The number of invitations issued for Skilled Trades was 889, however, according to the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program, only 371 of them are eligible to apply. The Notifications of Interest of the remaining 518 candidates have been revoked. Ontario apologized for any inconvenience.
Ontario invited new candidates in the Skilled Trades and French-Speaking Skilled Workers streams
On January 24, 2019, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 889 Invitations to Apply for the candidates eligible for the Skilled Trades Stream. On the same day, Ontario issued 28 invitations for applicants in the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW). As of today, Ontario invited 1493 candidates in the Human Capital Priority Stream, 889 candidates in the Skilled Trades Stream, 99 candidates in the FSSW, and 13 candidates in the Entrepreneur Stream. The total number of invitations issued by the OINP in 2019 has reached 2494 candidates.
Ontario invited Entrepreneurs and French-Speaking Skilled Workers
On January 17, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 13 Invitations to Apply under the Entrepreneur Stream. The minimum score was 115. On the same day, Ontario issued 33 invitations for applicants in the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW).
The First Human Capital Priorities Stream draw via OINP in 2019
On January 14, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 1493 Notification of Interest (NOI) for candidates in the Human Capital Priorities Stream. Candidates must submit their application within 45 calendar days of receiving their NOI. The lowest score for this invitation round was 439, while the highest – 448 points. The lowest score for the last Express Entry round was 1 point higher – 449.
Ontario continues inviting francophones
On January 11, 2019, Ontario issued 38 invitations for applicants via French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW) of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). In 2018, Ontario invited 1633 French Speaking candidates via this stream.
